Three years

Happy Anniversary to my love. I don't like to get cheesy too often, but when I do, I mean it. I don't mind cheese as long as it's genuine. I love Nate, and couldn't have hand-picked a better husband for me or a father for Noah. He is perfect...for us. Nate is considerate, kind and affectionate. He is selfless. I know people say that a lot, but Nate takes the cake. He's always thinking of others before himself. He is such an example to me within our marriage and outside of it. He treats other people so kindly, and always puts other's comfort before his own. When planning our wedding, I remember asking him what parts of the wedding he really wanted to be part of planning. His response made me realize I had a keeper. He said, "I'm fine with whatever you want, as long as my Grandma can easily get into the reception hall, and has a comfortable seat where she can see everything". Always thinking of someone else. Never himself. Keeper.

Anyway, so to celebrate our anniversary we stayed a night at the Ritz close by to our house. Can I tell you how out of place we felt? When we were walking down the hallway to our room, a couple passed by us in formal attire. FORMAL ATTIRE. As in, she was wearing an Oscar-worthy HUGE GOWN dripping with diamonds, and he was wearing a well-tailored tuxedo. What type of an event do you go to that requires that attire? I can't figure it out? Am I the only one who can't think of anything? Almost anywhere I can think of, an evening gown is NOT necessary. If you think of something, please fill me in. I'm so curious where those people were going!

The whole day/night was so relaxing. We layed by the pool, and I read a trashy/gossip magazine. We started joking that maybe I shouldn't gossip so loud about some of the stupid celebrities because one of them might be sitting near us, and not think too highly of me for talking trash on them or their friends ;) Also, I'm pretty sure it's a requirement for the employees at the Ritz to say, "my pleasure" at every possible moment. We've decided we want to teach Noah to say "my pleasure" instead of "you're welcome". Very classy, indeed.

For dinner we headed over to the Ritz restaurant, Raya. They had set up our table with yellow rose petals, and a love poem wishing us a Happy Anniversary. Afterall, no anniversary dinner is complete without an anniversary love poem. Anyway, the food. THE FOOD. Delicious. We split an appetizer of lobster tacos. The heavens opened, and I drooled all over our linen tablecloth. They were that good. I got a seafood risotto with so much seafood that I couldn't finish it. Nate got a Black Bass that was equally as amazing as mine. Also, in case both of those dishes weren't enough, we splurged on some crab mashed potatoes. Creamy mashed potatoes with pieces of crab throughout, how could that be bad? We couldn't stop raving about our food. Also, when I ordered a Diet Coke our server said they only had Pepsi. I was pretty sad about that, until she showed up with a bottle of Diet Coke and a glass of ice. Their customer service is incredible. We were so stuffed we decided not to order dessert, until our server showed up with a chocolate pudding cake, complete with pieces of toffee throughout it, and topped with pretzels. Yep, I guess we were pretty stuffed, because we finished the whole thing.

The next morning, we had breakfast at Raya. So, I've always wanted to try Eggs Benedict, but never been brave enough to miss out on french toast, waffles, or something else equally delicious in order to test them out. I figured of all places, the Ritz was the place to try Eggs Benedict for the first time. You guys. The best eggs I've ever had in my life. I'm not exaggerating. Hollandaise is my new favorite sauce. I want hollandaise on everything I eat for the rest of my life. It's a butter sauce with a hint of lemon that is both creamy and light at the same time. Life-changing. Plus, this view didn't hurt either.

One more dip in the jacuzzi, then we were on our way back home. Great way to celebrate 3 years. Food, pool, food, sleep, more food, more pool. Happy anniversary to us!
